The Rubble Site will be open the week of June 25th through June 28th, 12:00- 7:00 pm, and Saturday June 29th. Ash trees can be taken to the rubble site during this time, due to the flooding at Chautauqua Park. The drop site on the west end of the high school parking lot has been extended to Tuesday July 2nd. This will be a drop off site for carpet, furniture, and other items as long as they are not tires, appliances with compressors, or hazardous materials.


The water restriction has been reinstated as of 6:40 pm on June 24th. Residents of Canton, please restrict water usage due to the sanitary sewer being overwhelmed. Please ensure sump pumps are not running into sanitary systems until further notice.


Today June 24th at 3:30 we are lifting the restriction on washing clothes. Please be mindful to wash clothes sparingly because the system is still close to capacity. We may have to bring back restrictions if we reach capacity again. At this time the car washes will remain closed.

Now through Saturday, June 29th, the Rubble Site will be accepting appliances (washers, dryers, fridges, freezers) at no charge during regularly scheduled hours (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10am-5pm).

The rubble site will be closed on June 21st, due to flooding.


Highway 18 is open, water is starting to recede, watch for asphalt in some intersections throughout Canton. There are still roads into Canton that are flooded/closed, and roads throughout Canton are flooded/closed. Use caution if you must travel.


Riverview Road is flooding across the road. At this time the road is closed by the airport. The intersection at 7th and Lincoln is flooded and should be avoided at this time.


Canton Open Air Market at Jack Fox Park has been canceled for this evening, due to the weather.


Slurry Seal 2024 consists of East and West Streets. Walnut Street from Dakota Street to Sanborn Street. Elder Street from North Cedar Street to Sanborn Street. Maple Street from North Cedar Street to Kidder Street. First Street from North Cedar Street to Kidder Street. Slurry Seal tentatively will be July 2nd.


At last night's Commission Meeting it was decided that if you have Ash Trees on your boulevard that need to be picked up this weekend, please call city hall to be put on a pickup list. If you are interested in volunteering this weekend, please be at the shop by 7:00 am on Saturday June 8th. Also, the private Ash Tree agenda item has been moved to the July 1st Commission Meeting.


City crews will be spraying for mosquitoes tonight, Monday June 3rd.
